About Us
Hi, thank you for visiting! Want to more about who you're thinking of heading off into the unknown with? Please read the short bio below. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you and have a great day!
My name is Cory. I learned to drive in an off-road environment and still vividly remember my Dad teaching me to drive on the sandy beaches and dirt roads of Baja, Mexico. We had a house 30 miles south of San Felipe, where I put quite a few miles under my belt driving a rusted out 1965 VW Baja bug. What a blast to be driving up and down the beaches and a half-mile out into the sea bed during low tide catching crabs in the tide pools. From there I went on to a four-wheel-drive Datsun pickup lifted on 35's, I was hooked. Several Baja Bugs, sand rails, dirt bikes, quads, and ATC's later, everything I now own is a 4x4 other that one grocery-getter beater car (the car alone cost less than a set of my off-road tires).
I've evolved from the dirt bikes to the old man quad. They say with age comes a cage, funny enough, the CJ5 with a roll cage arrived around the same time I sold the last dirt bike, a DR650. I now find myself in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with power windows, heat, a/c and cruise control looking to put a tent with a cozy mattress on top of my Jeep for a better nights sleep. I suppose the nights of lying next to the fire with a warm rock wrapped up in my shirt at the foot of my sleeping bag are behind me, but I don't miss it a bit. I enjoy getting out on the dirt roads more than ever.
In late 2018 I was introduced to Trails Off-Road by a good friend of mine and has changed the way I explore for the better. Trailsoffroad.com is a website that provides up to date trail guides consisting of photos, GPS plotted tracks and waypoints, and videos. I have very few pictures of my childhood. My son already has many with him and his parents out enjoying the outdoors together. I was never in a hurry before, but always just drove from point A to B and not much else unless I saw it from the driver's seat. I've revisited many of those destinations exploring along the way and am amazed at all I had missed! Researching one dirt road I frequently drove on for nearly 20 years I discovered was well over 100 years old and was an original part of the Ocean to Ocean Highway. Before being a United States President, Harry S. Truman used to travel this same stretch of road as many as four times a year as the President of the National Old Trails Road Association!
OK, enough rambling. If you made it this far, excellent, and thank you! Are you interested in exploring these areas? Check out the trail guides on Trailsoffroad.com. Want to tag along as I explore new areas and revisit the old ones? I'd love to hear from you.
Thank you.
